Preparing for band rehearsal: from a shared setlist to everyone's progress
If you're asking the group chat "has everyone practiced?" the night before, a little structure helps. The point is to finish individual practice beforehand and spend expensive rehearsal time playing together.
How to prepare
- Set the setlist and date: decide the songs and the rehearsal date first. Knowing the days left tells you how much to practice each day.
- Use the same tabs: practicing from different versions means the arrangement won’t match on the day. Share the same files.
- Practice your part: start with the hardest sections of your part, slowly.
- Share progress: when everyone can see who has learned which song and how far, there are no surprises on the day.
- Check the day before: spot the songs or sections that aren’t ready and spend rehearsal time on those.
Making the most of rehearsal day
- Least ready first: work on the songs with the lowest progress first and run the solid ones once at the end.
- Drill the hard parts: repeat just the bridge or solo that keeps going wrong.
- Record it: a phone recording shows exactly what didn't line up for next time.
Doing it with ShedTab rehearsal rooms
- Shared setlist: upload Guitar Pro files or PDFs and everyone practices from the same tabs. Only members of that room can download them.
- Invite members: send an invite link and members join with Google sign-in. Invited members are free.
- Song × member progress: see who has played which song to what percent in one table, down to individual bars.
- Rehearsal countdown and daily target: days left and how much progress is needed per day.
- Weekly ranking: who practiced the most this week.
