Add a music file and the BPM and key show up in a few seconds. The file stays on your device.
How it works
BPM: it finds the beat from the gaps between note onsets, then fine-tunes it so the notes land on a sixteenth-note grid.
Key: it adds up how much each note name sounds across the song and compares that with all 24 major and minor keys.
Songs are often counted at half or double time, so those values are shown too.
When it gets it wrong
Free-time playing with no drums makes the BPM wobble. Use the tap tempo below instead.
If the tempo changes mid-song you get one overall value.
Key changes or blues that mix major and minor can make the second guess the right one.
Questions
How accurate is it? On eight guitar tracks with known tempos the BPM was right, or exactly double or half, every time. The key finder hasn't been tested as widely yet.
Can I paste a YouTube link? No, only files you have yourself.
