Two ways in
- Find shapes by name: pick C, Am7, F#m7b5 and so on to get open shapes, barre chords and higher voicings.
- Name a shape: mark the fret on each string and it tells you the chord. If the lowest note isn't the root you get a slash chord like C/G.
How shapes are picked
- Only shapes four fingers can hold within a four-fret span. Several strings on the same fret count as a barre.
- The lowest sounding note is the root.
- Shapes that skip a middle string are left out, so everything can be strummed.
