About ShedTab
Last updated: November 4, 2026
ShedTab is a web app for opening a guitar tab and practicing it right away. Open a Guitar Pro file, PDF, text tab, MIDI file or recording, play it back, loop the bars you keep missing, then slow it down and bring the speed back up bit by bit. There is nothing to install.
Who makes it
ShedTab is made by Eitri, a one-person workshop. I build the tools I wanted while practicing guitar myself. The name comes from the dwarf smith in Norse myth who forged Thor's hammer. There is no company or investor behind it, and the same person writes the features and answers your email.
Why it exists
Practicing one song used to mean a Guitar Pro file for the tab, a separate metronome, a slow-down app, and a group chat to get the band ready. ShedTab puts looping, speed control, progress tracking and rehearsal prep on the same screen as the tab.
How your tabs and practice data are handled
- If you don't sign in, your tabs and practice history stay in this browser only.
- If you sign in, your library is stored privately in your account so you can pick up on another device.
- Turning a recording into tab and reading a chord sheet both happen inside your browser.
- When a tab file (Guitar Pro, MusicXML, PDF) fails to open, we keep a copy so we can fix the problem. The file name is not kept.
- Setlist tabs in a rehearsal room can be downloaded only by that room's members.
The details are in the privacy policy.
